Amplify your voice, influence our future.
Why Your Vote Counts
Residents and fellows are at the heart of our specialty. Join me to ensure that our unique and evolving needs stay at the forefront of the decision-making process within the American Psychiatric Association (APA).

About Me
Born in Karachi, Pakistan and raised in small-town Kentucky, my life experiences have influenced me in unique ways. Like all of you, I am devoted to my patients, committed to my profession and excited to use my skill set to serve the dynamic field of psychiatry.

The Position
The Resident-Fellow Member Trustee (Elect) is a nationally-elected member of the Board of Trustees, the governing body of the American Psychiatric Association (APA). The power to make policy is vested in the Board, and the elected official will have the power to vote, influence and advocate for changes within the scope of our specialty.
The Issues
My Areas of Focus

Diversity & Inclusion
Practicing psychiatry with sensitivity and compassion is an essential part of our job. Join me in finding new and innovative ways to identify unconscious biases within our training programs and build cultural competency for social justice issues at-large.
Education with Influence
Our traditional methods of scholarly activity are limited in scope. Join me in advocating for practical ways to prepare for life after training while leveraging the power of media to advance our knowledge. Together we can educate our patients, our communities and each other about mental health in a powerful way.

Wellness & Protection
Since the onset of the pandemic, the burnout rate among second-year residents in psychiatry has trended above 42%. Join me in advocating for trainee protection as well as a national policy to broaden the vacation structure within our programs.
Telepsychiatry
Current events have transformed telepsychiatry from an option to a necessity. Join me in ensuring that programs are equipped with the funding and tools necessary to make us competent in both utilizing and staying up-to-date with advancements in telehealth.
